The Wells Fargo Center for Neurodiversity and
Inclusive Employment

at the University of Connecticut.

Transforming how organizations understand, value, and engage neurodiverse talent.

Customers, employees, and job seekers are taking note of those employers that understand - and value - neurodiversity. After all, one in six individuals is neurodivergent.

The number of people who care about this topic is too large for companies to ignore, especially since 66% of the neurodiverse population is highly skilled yet under or unemployed.

A partnership focused on exponentially improving employment outcomes - both for neurodiverse talent and for employers.

In Fall 2024, Wells Fargo provided a grant to the University of Connecticut to create the Wells Fargo Center for Neurodiversity and Inclusive Employment at UConn. This unique academic-corporate partnership is focused on improving career outcomes for neurodivergent individuals, providing innovative employer education, and fostering better connections between job seekers and companies.

Employer Education

UConn’s center focuses on educating and training employers about neuroinclusion.

After all, if employers do not understand how they approach, hire, and retain neurodiverse talent, any efforts aimed at upskilling neurodivergent individuals will fall short.

Details about our neurodiversity education options for employers here.

Neurodiversity courses:
Educate your employees.

UConn's employer-focused courses teach employees how to apply knowledge about neurodiversity to their day-to-day actions and their roles in your organization.

Go beyond “what is neurodiversity?” and deep into “what will I do differently?" through behavioral frameworks, scenarios, strategies, and toolkits.

Full-Day workshop:
Design your company’s neurodiversity initiative.

Our workshop model brings groups of employers together for a full day of hands-on designing. Key leaders from 10-15 organizations learn alongside peers how to build a neurodiversity initiative for their company.

The workshop blends real-world corporate expertise with academic instructional excellence. It is co-delivered with Wells Fargo's Neurodiversity Program executives, and informed by the best practices in the company's award-winning Neurodiversity Program and Ecosystem.

We connect neurodivergent individuals with resources and employers that understand their differences.

Our work brings together job seekers, companies, universities, and support organizations.

Neurodivergent Candidates

Individuals who join the Neuroinclusive Candidate Network (NCN) get connected to companies, employees, peers, knowledge, events, and resources that support their career journey. Neurodivergent students and job seekers can participate in upskilling programs to enhance their candidacy for roles and apply for work opportunities that support neurodivergence.

Employers

Organizations that want to communicate their neuroinclusion leadership and build relationships with neurodivergent candidates can join the Inclusive Employers Alliance (IEA) and share internship and job opportunities with the neurodiverse community when those opportunities meet established standards for neuroinclusion.

University & Community Professionals

For professionals in higher-ed and organizations that provide career support for people who learn differently, the UConn University and Community Council (UCC) of over 100 schools and organizations shares curated events, job information, and resources that complement the support they already offer ND individuals they serve.
